Windows Desktop Search for searching CVs
Recruit Studio uses the Windows Desktop Search tool for CV searching.
You need to have the tool installed on the PC that holds the database and it
needs to be configured to search the correct folders.
Only do this step if you are using Windows XP. If you are using Windows Vista, move on to step
3. Click 'Run' when prompted and follow the installation wizard.
Only do this installation on the PC that holds the database.
Configure Windows Desktop Search for XP
- When installed, two magnifying glass icons will be placed in the bottom
right-hand corner of your screen, near the time. Right-click on the
magnifying glass nearest to the time.
- Click 'Windows Desktop Search options' and then click 'Modify' on the
next window.
- A window will open where you can select the folders that the WDS tool
needs to search. In the top half of the window, navigate to the C:\
drive and then the 'RecruitStudio' folder but don't tick either of them.
- The folders you do want to tick are:
- C:\RecruitStudio\CandidateCVs
- C:\RecruitStudio\CVDatabase
- C:\RecruitStudio\CVSummaries
- After a short time of indexing, Recruit Studio will be ready to search CVs.
